Texas

Marfa has been a refreshing oasis to travelers for many years. Visitors from both sides of the border have enjoyed the warm mineral springs since before there was a border! The hot springs have changed hands in more recent years, ranging from private owners like minimalist sculptor Donald Judd (who helped transform the sleepy town into an international destination for art) to a nonprofit entity. The springs are located on 640 acres, along with a variety of hiking trails. Additional outdoor recreation is available at nearby state and national parks.

In Mineral Wells, a large hotel that opened in 1929 as a health resort frequented by well-known movie stars and politicians like President Lyndon B. Johnson had sat abandoned since 1972. After a major three-year renovation is completed in 2022, there will be a natural springs-based wellness spa with indoor and outdoor natural springs, many rooms and suites, meeting and event space and more.
