Durango Hot Springs Resort and Spa is located in the Animas Valley, just north of downtown Durango, Colorado and 15 minutes south of Purgatory Ski Resort. The natural hot springs have a storied history dating back a millennium to the Ancient Puebloan who lived in this region. Beginning in the 18th century, the Utes and other Native Americans utilized the healing waters which they considered sacred. Over the years, the geothermal springs have hosted many enterprises, including several grand hotels, a dude ranch, a gambling hall and an entertainment center for celebrities and Hollywood stars in the 1950s.

The one constant over the years has been the natural hot mineral springs and its reputation as a mystical healing place and source of wellness. Much of this mystique comes from the rare characteristics of the hot springs water—a balanced blend of minerals and with no sulfurous odor. Guests feel rejuvenated and refreshed during and after soaking.

Formerly known as Trimble Hot Springs, new owners purchased the property in 2019 with the aim of restoring and improving the hot springs facilities and spa while simultaneously embracing its colorful history. The ongoing renovation includes the construction of 21 new soaking pools with water of varying temperatures, a resort-style saltwater pool and upgraded amenities that include saunas, a cold-plunge and venues for entertainment, food and beverage, wellness activities and expanded spa services. The redesigned campus will feature 12 ADA accessible mineral pools and zero-entry access to the swimming pool. Various soaking options are planned and will include family, adults-only and private experiences. While renovations are underway, Durango Hot Springs continues to welcome guests to enjoy soaking, saunas and spa services. As renovations progress, more options and facilities will become available.
